Interactive Help

HTML Help replaced WinHelp as the Help engine for Windows platforms and applications in Windows 98, and will be the Help engine for third party applications for Windows Vista.

The concept of "interactive help" is a related area pioneered by HyperWrite. One of the benefits of HTML Help over the earlier WinHelp system was the ability to tightly integrate the Help with the application itself. This allowed Help to co-exist with the application in the same window, and react to the way the user is using the application itself.

For example, if a user is repeatedly clicking a disabled button, the Help could interactively display an explanation to the user.
